And we're caught up in the crossfire of heaven and hell.

Okay, so this is THAT song.  Yes, THAT song.  The one that you hear one time and it's stuck in your head for days.  You find yourself humming it, but you're frustrated because you don't know the words yet.  Gotta love it.

I'm spoiled by the free year subscription of XM radio that came with my car.  I've never been much of a fan of the radio. Too many commercials, too many of the same songs over and over.  I'm sure everyone knows what I mean.  But, I've found this station: AltNation on XM that I listen to all the time.

I heard the song "Crossfire" by Brandon Flowers probably a month ago, but I didn't pay attention to it until I realized that's what I'd been humming.  So, upon that discovery, I looked him up.  (Turns out he's actually from the Killers.  I wondered why his voice sounded so familiar).

His solo album titled Flamingo is set to be released on September 14th.  So, I thought I'd check out what the album artwork was going to look like.  Unfortunately, it has not yet been released. Instead, I found the artwork for his single "Crossfire."

I love the simplicity of the design.  The vintage-looking border and the aged paper just grabbed my attention immediately, because of my design preference.  I do think that everyone can enjoy looking at this, though.  The replaced with a gun was just so clever.

I am really looking forward to seeing what the album artwork will look like! :)

SALTY TATERS!!

I just returned from the great state of New York (literally a couple hours ago).  Though, the reason for my visit was extremely unfortunate, I'm going to look at the bright side: I returned home with several bags of Hinerwadel's Salt Potatoes.

For as long as I can remember, this package has looked exactly the same.  Granted, I haven't lived all THAT long and I have no memories before like... 4, but either way, the bag has not changed a bit.  It has a very classic and Victorian looking design, which I've always loved, but I have to say I'm probably partial to the packaging because I just can't imagine it any other way.

I was born about 15 miles north of Syracuse, New York, the home of the New York State Fair and my all-time favorite food: salt potatoes!  Recently, I was perusing through a recent issue of Food Network Magazine, and I came across an article on them.  I have to say, it made me ecstatic to know that these potatoes, that are generally unknown outside of the Syracuse area, are being shown to the public!

[notice the salt crusted on the outside.  yummmm!]
Really, they're only small golden potatoes, but they're boiled with a pound of salt.  I know, it seems simple.  French fries are essentially just salty potatoes, right?  BUT these little things are somehow just SO much better.  They're incredibly creamy, ungodly salty, and usually covered in an obnoxious amount of butter.

For me, they are nostalgic.  I've lived in Tennessee most of my life, but some of my most fond memories of New York involve these little taters.  So, I think it's very appropriate that the bag expresses exactly that: nostalgia!  I think Hinerwadel's has successfully achieved just that.

Anyway, enough of my food rant.  I think I'll go eat some.
